October 2023 Reels Ideas

October 30:

Audio:

🔗 Sirens

The sound of sirens in the distance.

How to use it:

This trend is all about something you “got caught” doing. People are creating funny scenarios they’re caught in: closing up shop early, spending when they said they’d start saving, using up their own products, etc. Have fun with this one: film yourself freezing and add a hook about what you were caught doing! If you want to really commit to the trend, have a friend or family member film you OR set up your phone to capture multiple angles of yourself “frozen”.

Hook Ideas:

  • Product-based: POV: You got caught using your own [product] right after you said stock is low

  • Service-based: When you’re caught [doing something you tell clients not to do] (this can be great for gently poking fun at yourself)

Example:

This knowledge-based example combines video and screenshots for a funny and educational Reel.

🔗 Aggressive Typing

Jim Carrey in “Bruce Almighty” is all of us when we’ve got something to say online!

How to use it:

Think about how many times a day you use your keyboard in your business. Researching, answering questions, emailing, creating offers – the list goes on. The idea behind this trend is creating a scenario for your audience that shows something you can do for them that makes their life better!

To really hop on this trend, speed up the recording to create the effect of typing at super speed! To adjust the speed, tap the 1x button (usually in the top middle of the screen) before you record to change the speed of your reel. This will affect both the video and audio of your clip and can be used to either create a slow-motion or sped up effect. Use 2x or 3x speed for this trend. Start slow with your typing and get faster in time with the music.

Hook Ideas:

  • Product-based: POV: You’re trying to find the perfect [product you sell] but it’s at the link in my bio

  • Service-based: [Ideal client]: “How do I [problem you help solve]?” Me

Example:

I love how the hook in this knowledge-based example makes it clear that she’s got the answer to your question!

🔗 Did that go the way you thought it was going to go?

A short clip from “The Other Guys” gets repurposed for a fun trend.

How to use it:

This trend is all about highlighting when things don’t go the way you (or your ideal buyer) thought they were going to. You can focus on an unexpectedly good outcome, like getting great results from a product or service. Or you could focus on the not-so-great outcomes like missed opportunities, regrets from buying a cheap knockoff, etc.

Hook Ideas:

  • Product-based: You thought you could stop at just one [product you sell]

  • Service-based: When you ignore [something you recommend] and [unpleasant outcome]

Example:

This product-based example is both funny and informative!

🔗 Mysterious Music

This sound is perfect for Spooky Season! 👻

How to use it:

Anyone else remember the song “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm”? This audio has almost the same feeling. You can spotlight a revelation, a realization, or a simple truth your audience needs to hear. It might be something that makes you scratch your head, an unconventional method for getting results, or something that seems like a contradiction but isn’t.

Hook Ideas:

  • Product-based: The sound I hear when I hear someone say they can get a cheaper [product you sell] on Amazon and I’m wondering why it’s so cheap.

  • Service-based: When I hear someone say they’re going to [achieve results] without [something they need to do to get results]

Example:

A simple and straightforward example for a product-based business that works!

🔗 Aggressive Stirring

We can’t think of a more perfect description of this sound 🤣

How to use it:

Get ready to stir the pot – literally! This trend is perfect for busting myths, pondering something, giving the side-eye to “the way it’s always been done” or just adding some relatable humor. It’s also great for adding a little “What? I’m not mad” to hearing or seeing something you don't agree with.

Hook Ideas:

  • Product-based: When I hear someone say [myth about product] but I’m trying to protect my peace.

  • Service-based: “Stop stirring the pot talking about [your niche].” Me:

Lyrics:

This part of my life is called (goat screaming)

Example:

The facial expression in this knowledge-based example is priceless!
